The latest news from the bluegrass state.
Just a quick post on some of the changes that are beginning to take place, and will be taking place over the summer.
With the Arsenal visit to NYC this summer, there have been some things have had to be put on the back burner. Things like the second shirt - which a few of you have already preordered, will still be happening, and those of you that have preordered have the option of receiving the new shirt when we relaunch it, or you can opt for a full refund. Doing nothing will simply mean you'll have the new shirt shipped to you once they relaunch.
A little more on the second shirt - I received a total of 8 orders. Unfortunately that meant that I wasn't even able to cover the cost of the shirts and couldn't order them. I think that was down to a few factors - launching quickly after the new year meant it didn't get nearly as publicized as our first shirt, and I don't think many people knew much about it. Also, any feedback on the design would be appreciated if that prevented some people from ordering.
Next, on NYC - Tickets were insane and the preorders sold out in about 33 minutes. This meant that once they went on sale to general public, they were gone almost immediately. Now, a few of these tickets ended up on StubHub, which was completely against both Arsenal's and Arsenal America's ordering and anti-touting policy.
There is good news, though! I have come across a set of two more tickets that are now available. If you're from the Kentucky branch, and you're interested, please contact me. Obviously these will be sold at face value and will be transferred into your name as per Arsenal's policy. These tickets are in the Arsenal America section.
Planning for NYC is insanely demanding. Hotels, transportation, how exactly I plan to drink my way through all of the Arsenal sponsored pubs in NYC - the New York team really has a handle on things up there. If you're a member of ArsenalAmerica you've already got some information on hotels, and the deals with Mariott end this week. Rooms are already booking up, so make sure you get your reservations in soon. I currently haven't booked anything myself, but I will certainly be up there! As far as transportation goes, a good friend from the Cincy group informed me of a very reasonable mode of transportation up there - Amtrak is offering a train ticket round trip to NYC from Cincinnati and back for $92. Thats a pretty solid deal - one I am looking into as well. I haven't been able to coordinate things with the branch for hotels, but if you need more information, I can definitely help out.
I'm currently working with Woodford Reserve for the possibility of some commemorative bottles for this season. More information on those will be coming out at the conclusion of the season, so stay tuned for those. The bottles will likely run about $50 each.
Last thing - I've been working with the board of Arsenal America since January. We plan on launching a magazine at the beginning of next season to highlight some of our own branches and people involved in what makes supporting Arsenal in America great.
As always, thanks guys for your continued support.
Up the Arsenal!
